Photographing Handmade Wooden Toys: Going from Stark White to Warm and Friendly
One of the challenges of selling handmade wooden on different platforms is the photography. Certain platforms have certain photography requirements when it comes to posting your handmade items for sale.
The huge giant Amazon requires us to have a stark white background. Nothing fun, nothing extra and nothing warm. They are all about retail, fast delievery and products being exactly as they are. Here is an example of the photos I have to take for them.
Because of their requirements, I decided to do all my platforms the same way for photography, but it really misses the warmth of storytelling. So both my ecommerce store and my store on Etsy is going through a transition where everything will slowlyg be photographed in a more appealing and fun way.
Today I started making some backdrops for the peg dolls. They will soon be added back into my shop here - I have close to 200 different designs right now but I want to come up with a creative way to sell them, not just the stark boring way that I have to do it on Amazon.
Now that I have them cut out, I can take some fun photos like this:
