One Tree Planted is a 501c3 nonprofit that plants
trees around the world. Their mission is to reforest the planet, one tree at a time.
Every $1 donated helps plant 1 tree. It's that simple. They also aim to raise awareness about the importance of trees, offer businesses a simple sustainability solution, and motivate younger generations to do something positive for the environment.  They believe that businesses can be advocates for sustainability.

And so do we. As a business that relies on trees for its handcrafted goods, the least we can do is to ensure that we are using sustainable practices including making sure that the pine, aspen and maple we use are reforested for the next generations to enjoy.

And as One Tree Planted so nicely puts it,
By supporting tree-planting, businesses show that they are leaders in creating a healthier world in which humanity, nature, and wildlife can thrive.

So why did we choose to go with a USA based tree planting charity instead of Canadian based? The answer is simple. This charity is able to plant 1 tree for $1 US dollar here in Canada. Canadian charities start at $3.99 per tree. Sure, it means that we cannot use anything we donate to the USA charity for tax break purposes - but that is not the point. We want to help replant what we use so that future generations can enjoy the trees too. With this charity along with your help, we can do more with less.
